I was in my early teens & brother Gra eight or nine, I was mad on Speedway and there was a cycle speedway track quite near to where we lived on Doe Royd Crescent , and I decided to have a ride round the track on my "bitsa" bike, Gra came with me on his little "Wiggies Special". After a while we agreed to have a race with Gra having half a lap start on me. Off we set, and just as I got behind him Gra fell off ! Did I mention my bitsa had no brakes? I was helpless and just rode over him, I was scared I'd injured him and he was crying but I gave him a brush down and we started home with my pleas for him not to tell our mam ringing in his ears. Needless to say he blubbed and blabbed to mam and I got a right thick ear from her, and as I escaped I ran through the kitchen past a smiling Graham, tears miraculously dried.
